Northern Arizona Technology Integration Coaching Consortium

NATICC Update - December

On December 5th, the Arizona Department of Education Director of Educational Technology conducted a fall grant monitoring session with district level administrators from our grant consortium member districts.  In this meeting, consortium members were asked what the successes and challenges have been, what has been the most significant impact of the grant, and what ADE can do to provide further support of the grant activities.  In general, most consortium districts feel that getting equipment and consistent professional development, in the form of coaching, have been the greatest successes.  The greatest challenges for most districts have been time for coaches to work with collaborating teachers and localized issues with IT department expectations for equipment.  Overall, consortium members felt that the most significant impact of the grant has been the fact the the grant is changing instruction for both teachers and children.

We recently helped one of the STAR School coaches begin a student video production project.  We assisted in teaching both the classroom instructor and students to use iMovie for video editing.  The classroom teacher then had students import video footage of their community service projects and is in the process of having them edit that footage to make a public service announcement type of movie.

We are presently scheduling meetings with various technology coaches to assist with professional development, to ensure that coaching goals are being met, and to provide classroom coverage to allow coaches to collaborate with teachers.
